The Personal Trainer: How to Increase your Muscle Mass

If you are looking to increase your muscle you need to fatigue your muscle. This is done by a few methods, but the most popular one is by doing the overload principle, which is progressively increasing the amount of weight per set. Where individuals fail with this exercise is that they do not push through the reps and will sometimes pause, causing the muscle to rest. We want to fatigue the muscle, so it is extremely important you either are working with a personal trainer or you have a great workout partner who is going to spot you on those challenging sets.Once you get the idea of the overload principle, you also have to do burn out sets in order to take the muscle fatigue to the next level. In addition,  you have to include sets that are with the same weight and try your best to get the same amount of reps for each set, but keep your rest periods to a minimum. By doing this, you are further fatiguing the muscle, but with a different exercise.By doing this, it will start to create muscle hypertrophy, but you also need to make sure you are intaking enough calories and the correct amount of protein. It is extremely vital that you have a protein shake or recover drink after you workout from an intense weight lifting workout. Too many people do not intake enought calories or the proper nutrient percentages, and they lose muscle mass versus increasing it.When it comes to making the muscle more dense and then be able to make that muscle look shredded, that is a different post and  technique level. Thanks,Kisar DhillonThe Personal TrainerThe Art of Personal Training by Kisar Dhillon107 SE Washington Street, Suite 137Portland, Oregon 97214(503) 953-0241
