Portland Personal Trainer | Protecting Yourself From The Flu | Portland, Oregon

It seems as though this is the time of year when the flu virus rears its ugly head.  With the change of seasons and germs flooding public places, it’s important to take precautions.  Below is a list of easy steps to implement into your daily routine to protect yourself from the flu.

  1.  Get a flu vaccine.  Many people claim that getting the vaccine actually causes them to get the flu.  While we can speculate if that holds true or not, the truth is getting the vaccine doesn’t mean you won’t get the flu.  However, it does help protect you from getting a severe case of the flu, which could have you out of commission for days.
  2. Sneeze/cough into the inside of your elbow.  We don’t always have access to wash our hands whenever we need to.  Sneezing or coughing into your elbow prevent you from spreading germs onto your co-workers, family, and everything you touch.
  3. Wipe down the handle of your shopping cart, immediately.  Many germs congregate there from little ones using them as their teething relief, to other customers who happen to be sick.  Many stores have wipes at the front of the store for this purpose.
  4. If you know your co-workers are sick, ask if you can work from home or in an area they are not in.
Being sick is not fun and when someone gets the flu, it is even worse. Time is what is needed to let the latest flu strain pass, but you never know how long that can take, especially if someones immune system is not up to par. Be safe, always wash your hands and look for signs of people getting sick, because  getting the flu means bed rest. The Art of Personal Training by Kisar Dhillon107 SE Washington Street, Suite 137Portland, Oregon 97214503-953-0241
