Portland Personal Trainer | Muscles That Can Cause Back Pain!
There is a lot of debate on what causes the back pain, etc, but we need to look at what muscles that move the hip! The basic answer will be the hip flexors! So what are the hip flexors. Well the hip flexors are muscles that put the upper leg in a flexion type of state. Meaning, when you look at someone who is sitting in a chair, their upper legs are in a ninety degree mode or right triangle. When they are in this specific sitting pattern the hips will tend to move in a forward motion when this person sits up, creating the hips to rotate toward the ground. If you were to look at this when it happens, it would be just like a pail of water or someone tipping a cup to pour their fluid out. When this happens, you will notice the lower back will start to curve, which will create that added stress that people to tend to complain about. One way of alleviating this is to of course not to sit for extended period of time, but also stretch those quadriceps muscles.
