Portland Personal Trainer | Exercise Safely | Portland, Oregon

The rule of thumb that everyone should follow when they are starting a fitness program is safety. The last thing anyone wants is to  get hurt exercising or working out. One of the biggest concerns that we have encountered with potential clients who have to lose a lot of weight is that they are afraid to get injured or they might get too sore that they will not be able to perform their day jobs correctly. This is when education, communication and being a great listener comes into play. There are so many fitness professionals or that they think they are professionals that will just have someone jump into a series of exercises without doing a full assessment on the individual. At our Portland personal trainer studio, it is first and foremost always about listening to what the clients is looking for. Yes, most individuals want to get toned, lose weight, lose inches, etc., but when we tell them we need to establish a fitness base for them first, that is when the true colors will show, because results do not lie. If someone has only 8 weeks to reach a certain goal that is pretty aggressive, but their fitness level is non existent, we need to be brutally honest with them relay the message that we need to get you a good fitness base first before we can even attempt to be that aggressive with a fitness program. We know that most people want results yesterday, but when it comes to the body, it has a mind of its own, and it will tell an individual if it is being worked too hard, if its needs rests or it just cannot do a certain exercise or routine. This is when experience and professionalism come into play. If an individual is a true fitness professional or Portland personal trainer, they need to be able to pick up on these small cues to make sure the individual is working slightly out of their comfort zone, but not way out of it. Following correct safety protocols, correct bio-mechanics, form and breathing technique are so crucial that it will make or break successful programs. The Art of Personal Training by Kisar Dhillon107 SE Washington Street, Suite 137Portland, Oregon 97214503-953-0241
