You need to pick the type of shoe you need for the type of activity you are going to be engaging in. If you are going to be running, then you need to find a running shoe that works for you. I would suggest going to a professional running store so they can evaluate your walking stride, but also your running stride and how your feet land. Some individuals may pronate, so they will need a shoe to address that. ¬†On the flip side, if you are going to be hiking, then you do not want a running shoe. You want to go to a well-known outdoor's store and try on a few different pairs of shoes. Make sure they are very comfortable, because some of those hikes can last a very long time. If you need orthotics or already wear them, then before you buy those hiking shoes, put the orthotics in the shoes first.
