Portland Fitness: How to Strengthen the Back without weights

There are various exercises you can do to strengthen the back, but there are simple moves that you can do without using any expensive equipment, just your body weight. The first one is to get on all fours and lift your opposite arm and leg up for 3 sets of 20 reps per side. The next exercise you can do is called the Plank. The regular plank is having your forearms come in contact with the floor or mat and then extend your body out so you are on your toes like a mach push-up. If this move is difficult to do, then stay on your forearms but drop down to your knees for a modified plank. I would like for you to hold both of these positions for a minimum of 30 seconds. These are just some basic exercise you can do for the entire back muscles without having to lift heavy weight. Remember, if you exercise the lower back muscles, you are going to want to strengthen the abdominal muscles too. Thanks,Kisar S.
