Personal Trainer Portland | Breakfast Foods To Avoid in 2014

There are so many of us that are just trying to get out of the door to make it to work on time. Which means, some of us are running out the door! What does this mean: we have not prepped our food the night before, meaning we need to either get something out of the vending machine at work or stop by a coffee or fast food place to get a quick meal. If this becomes a major habit, that is when the pounds will start to pack on. If you just gain five pounds per year, that is 60 pounds of fat in 10 years, 20 years is 120 lbs. That is a crazy number, but it is a reality for some individuals. As a personal trainer Portland expert, that is why I highly encourage everyone to do their best to prepare the night before, so you do not set yourself up for failure the next day. Preparing is key! So, what are some of the foods we should avoid for breakfast in 20141. Avoid the old fashion BAGEL: This bagel is packed with calories and it can be equivalent to eating about 5 pieces of bread. 2. Avoid those sugary and colorful cereal foods that may taste awesome, but they are just loaded with unwanted fat and lots of sugar. This means empty calories to help pack on those pounds. 3. Extra additions to your morning coffee like: non dairy creamer, half and half, flavored syrups, etc. All of these are going to take a simple coffee into higher calorie beverage that you are trying to avoid if you are  doing your best to live a healthier lifestyle . 4. Foods that are high in sodium and/or salt: sausage patties, sausage links, bacon, etc. Even those these taste very good, when they are added to foods, especially breakfast sandwiches, they just increase the calories, saturated fat and sodium to a whole new level. Here in Portland, Oregon, bacon is like a local staple; bacon is on everything, so as a Portlander, I need to be cautious what they put on the foods I order. 5.  Pastries in the form of donuts, muffins and or b! Even if it is low fat or non-fat muffin, it does not mean that the calories are going to be super low, it can be loaded with all kinds of sugar, that will help boost those fat cells in the body. If it is low fat, low sugar and sodium, then that is a different story. I know all of these foods can be quite tasty, especially if you are in a hurry and you need something quick. If this is your routine, they it is a great start to know that you are aware of what you are eating. If this goes on for a few years and you are gaining weight, please take a step back and see what options you can take to reverse this. Remember, there is not quick fix, so if you have been on the go for years, give yourself some time to take off that weight you gained so quickly by adopting the five topics discussed above. The Art of Personal Training by Kisar Dhillon107 SE Washington Street, Suite 137Portland, Oregon 97214503-953-0241
