Personal Trainer Portland Oregon | Getting Muscle Cramps From Working Out!
Leg cramps can happen for various reasons: muscle fatigue, not enough electrolytes (potassium), and doing different movements. After workouts it is always best to have a recovery meal either in the form of a solid or liquid to aid in hydration and muscle repair. The ratio should be 4 grams of carbs to 1 protein. This should be ingested within an hour after working out. This is important when you perspire, but also when doing heavier loads. For example, if you were new to adding resistance to lunges and single leg squats with a medicine ball, then this can create muscle fatigue and muscle twitching at rest. I sometimes will take a warm bath with Epsom salt after workouts to soothe my mind and aching muscles. I would also stretch after the bath while your muscles are nice and warm too. Thanks,Kisar Dhillon The Art of Personal Training by Kisar Dhillon107 SE Washington Street, Suite 137Portland, Oregon 97214(503) 953-0241
